The London-based Centre for Investigative Journalism has created the Lyra McKee Investigative Journalism Training Bursary.

This is to enable a number of journalists from an underprivileged background to attend the CIJ Summer Conference on 4-6 July. There are an unspecified number of grants available, funded by the Lorana Sullivan Foundation.

Lyra herself attended CIJ events in both Dublin and London.

The CIJ said: “The Lyra McKee Journalism Training Bursary was inspired by Lyra’s determination to become an investigative journalist: despite personal disability, the need to care for her disabled mother as well as fighting the in-built bias against working-class entrants to journalism.”
