Police investigating the fire which destroyed Sean Dolans GAA club in Creggan in December have arrested a 46-year-old man today on suspicion of arson. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The club was extensively damaged during a fire on December 28th.
Police initially determined the cause of the fire to be accidental. They did a u-turn on that decision after viewing CCTV footage from the scene was produced by Sinn Fein and club members figures outside the building before the fire started. The Police then publicty stated that the fire at Sean Dolans GAC was arson.
Last week Police Chief Superintendent Stephen Martin referred the police investigation into the case to the Ombudsman for an independent examination of police actions.
