To celebrate Positive Ageing Month this October, the Alley Theatre is hosting a special vintage screening of the 1969 classic ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’.
The screening will take place on Friday 11th October at 1.30pm.
Positive Ageing Month is a month-long festival of events and activities for older people all across the country. It celebrates the contribution older people make to their communities.
The film, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this September, tells the story of two of the most famous outlaws in history - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - as they escape America in search of a more successful criminal career.
In Wyoming, at the turn of the century, famous outlaws Butch and Sundance are the leaders of the infamous Hole-In-The-Wall gang. When an attempted train robbery goes badly wrong, the pair escape to South America, accompanied by Sundance’s lover, Etta. While there, they attempt to continue their life of crime, expecting to make their fortune, but things do not go according to plan…
With the charismatic combination of Paul Newman and Robert Redford, accompanied by a memorable score by Burt Bacharach, this film has earned its title as one of the greatest Westerns of all time, and was a defining moment of American cinematic history.
So come along and join us for this classic. Tickets are £5 and tea, coffee, and shortbread will be served after the film.
