Ben Kelly has released his debut single 'Home' on Walled City Records, a self-written celebration of the City as his hometown.
The track is produced by D:Ream frontman Peter Cunnah, who is also working on Ben's forthcoming EP.
Described as 'a classic ballad in a contemporary setting,' the music video by Jenny May Finn combines archive footage of Derry in days gone by with images of the vibrant City as it moves into City of Culture year in 2013.
Having clocked up over 1 million YouTube hits while still a student, Ben Kelly rose to national fame in 2012 when he appeared on the BBC's The Voice UK. Ben's performance of Elton John's 'Rocket Man' led all four judges (Jessie J, will.i.am, Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue) to turn their chairs and ask to work with him. They were impressed; will.i.am said 'I know a superstar when I see one,' and Jesse J called Ben 'a ready-made pop star'.
Walled City Records is a new label set up by Oran O'Carroll and Damian McGinty, star of the US TV series 'Glee'.
Ben and Damian McGinty are performing at the Nerve Centre on December 21st (this Friday week) and tickets are on sale now.
The single 'Home' is available today on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.
