Unite union members at the Hovis plant in South Belfast have voted in favour of industrial action which they say may escalate to strike action.

Bread production workers are demanding a 10% pay rise at the Hovis plant, which produces around 50% of bread made in Northern Ireland with many other brands baked there as well as Hovis.

A spokesperson for the Unite union says pickets will be going up from 6am on Friday, May 14. Unite members and those of the Baker’s union will be commencing all-out strike action after that time.
