Council launches campaign to stop illegal dumping in Creggan

Council has launched an investigation into illegal dumping in Creggan.

A spokesperson for Derry City and Strabane District Council said that it is aware of an increase in illegal dumping in the Glassagh Road area, and officers are investigating.

"All illegally dumped waste will be carefully examined to obtain information regarding the perpetrators which will assist in the investigation. The public are reminded that it is an offence to dump indiscriminately and appropriate action will be taken against anyone found littering or dumping. Council takes cases of illegal dumping very seriously and does everything in its power to identify the culprits and issue fixed penalty notices.

"We would encourage anyone with excess rubbish to dispose of it at their nearest recycling centre.
