Pupils from Culmore Primary School have had a busy week raising money for Children in Need and have also posted off shoeboxes to the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal.
An amazing 93% of school families returned shoeboxes. These will be sent off to children to make Christmas a happier time for them. "Many of these children have never before had a Christmas present to open so our school children wanted to send them some Christmas magic" Principal Mrs Clare McMenamin said. "We always show our pupils the heart-warming videos of these children opening up their shoeboxes. This footage definitely drives home the importance of supporting this amazing charity."
Only a couple of weeks ago the 75 pupils in this caring school also raised £88 for the Young Minds charity which raises awareness of the mental health and well-being of young children.
" We look forward to helping other charities in the new year. We want our children to help others as much as possible. They appreciate how lucky they are but they also feel valued as good citizens in their local community and beyond" .
