Derry Councillors unanimously rejected a pay increase in solidarity with NHS and front line workers at yesterday's (Tuesday 30 March) meeting.Councillor Martin Reilly (SDLP) commented:"Today at Council, the Department for Communities offered all Councillors an annual pay raise of £415, backdated to 2020, which represents around 2.75%. Councillors currently receive £15,071 before tax per annum."There was unanimous support from all parties not to accept this pay award in solidarity with the front line workers who have worked so hard during the pandemic and been offered such a measly pay rise by government."
