Joe Mahon returns to UTV from Monday 21st September at 8pm in a brand new series, Lough Foyle.
Produced by Westway Productions the series is supported by our Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund. The ten-part series explores the unique natural environment of the lough & its cultural heritage by taking viewers on a fabulous journey on one of the greatest river systems in the island of Ireland.
The series kicks off with Joe spending time with Loughs Agency workers as they conduct an electro-fishing survey of returning sea-trout on the Altinaghree Burn in the hills above the County Tyrone village of Dunnamanagh.
Later, in the ancient graveyard at Ardstraw on the banks of the River Derg, historian William Roulston uses the headstones to trace the influence of Scottish settlers in the Foyle catchment over the centuries.
