A big shout out goes to Jonathan Ellis, who as Mr Chip NI Windscreen Chip & Glass repairs has been putting his skills at the disposal of frontline workers during the virus crisis – and all free of charge.

Newswire was contacted today by one appreciative customer who asked us to give Jonathan a special mention as one of the lesser known heroes of the Coronavirus crisis.

Jonathan founded the business in Derry in 2012, but when lockdown hit he was forced to close for a number of weeks.

Shortly after that, he decided to open his services to key workers and in particular NHS frontline workers, Foyle Search and Rescue, and Emergency Service Vehicles.

Since then he has been providing services free of charge, completing over £2,500 worth of work for over 60 frontline workers at hospitals, care homes and other front line venues.

Repairs to windscreens were all carried out with strict adherence to the current guidelines on social distancing and PPE.
