A MAN in his 20s was seriously injured after his plane crashed outside Convoy.
His fixed wing microlite twin seater aircraft went down in a field at Carrickbrack, outside Convoy shortly after 1.30pm today. The 22-year-old pilot was the only person on board.
It is believed that he was trying to land on a private landing strip in windy conditions just outside the village.
Ambulance Control notified Gardai at 1.30pm and the emergency services treated the man at the scene until he was able to be airlifted by Coast Guard helicopter to Letterkenny General Hospital with serious injuries.
Gardai say the matter is under investigation by the Air Accident Investigation Unit.
