The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Michaela Boyle, had the chance to catch up with the participants in a fantastic local programme aimed at helping visually impaired children cultivate their passion for football.
The sessions are delivered every Wednesday at Templemore Sports Complex by the qualified and specialised coaches of Trojans YCG, and are free to anyone who wants to brush up on their skills.
Speaking afterwards, Mayor Boyle said: “I was so delighted to be invited to see for myself the wonderful work being done by the Trojans Coaches. The energy and enthusiasm of the children is fantastic and I could really see how the training can positively impact on not just fitness but on co-ordination and control. And more importantly all the children were having so much fun!
“Well done to all the Trojans team who give up their time every week. Schemes like this make such a difference and should be supported by the whole community.”
