Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Brian Tierney, has hosted a meeting with Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Louise Haigh MP, on her first visit to Derry.
Mayor Tierney and Council Chief Executive John Kelpie hosted an hour long meeting with the MP for Sheffield Heeley in the Mayor’s Parlour before taking her on a tour of the city’s walls.
“I was delighted to welcome the Shadow Secretary of state to the city today and have a conversation about a number of key issues that can help drive our City and District forward,” said the Mayor.
“We spoke about the City Deal, the impacts of Brexit and our recovery plan from the Covid 19 crisis.
“Louise has a keen interest in our tourism offering and we were able to show her some of our main attractions during our walk of the walls.”
