Ness Country Park has become the first park in the North West to be awarded Green Flag status.
The award of the prestigious Green Flag signifies the park has been judged one of the top green spaces in Northern Ireland and the UK.
Managed by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA), Ness Country Park is located between Derry and Dungiven.
Welcoming the award, Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: “This National award is a sign to visitors that the park boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities. This is particularly good news as it is the first time this award has been secured in the North West.
“Huge credit must go to my NIEA officials who manage the park and for the essential work they do in maintaining this and other facilities to such a high standard for the benefit of not only current but future generations. We are determined to build on this success and to secure the award for other NIEA managed Country Parks in the years to come.”
