The Tower Museum will be hosting a Night at the Museum event this Saturday, 18 May, when it will show the movie “Amelia”, starring Hillary Swank, in its Museum Cinema at 6.15pm. The movie, which depicts the story of Amelia Earhart, was chosen to tie in with the 80th anniversary of her solo flight across the Atlantic and the Earhart festival events that are taking part in the city,
Admission to the museum will be free and the museum cinema can host up to 55 people, so booking is advisable. Terence O’Kane from the Tower Museum said the Night at the Museum is an annual event organised as part of European Museum Day which takes place across the UK aimed at encouraging more people to visit their local museum.
The museum will be open until 9pm on Saturday and persons attending to view the movie are encouraged to take time out to explore the Museum’s Story of Derry exhibition.
