Oil burners stolen in spate of New Year's Eve burglaries

Heartless thieves targeted a number of houses in the Derry on New Year's Eve, making off with several oil burners.

It is reported that four oil burners was taken from properties in the Canterbury Park area and one oil burner was taken from a property in the Good Shepherds Glen area sometime between Saturday 31st December and Sunday 1st January.

Sinn Féin Councillor Lynn Fleming has condemned those behind the thefts.

 Councillor Fleming said: “There was a spate of thefts of oil burners in other parts of the city around this time last year. It absolutely disgraceful  that this is happening again . These thefts are causing great stress and financial hardship to ordinary people. I would urge anyone with even the slightest information on these thefts to contact the police straight away."
