Paramedic enters water in heroic rescue assisted by Foyle Search and Rescue

Shortly after 10pm last night (Wed 28 October) Foyle Search and Rescue was alerted by police that a person had entered the water. When they arrived at the scene a paramedic had already entered the water to effect a rescue with the aid of a life buoy. An FSR spokesperson said: "A Multi Agency response was put in motion with an FSR Mobile Unit, Boat and Base support crew responding with NIAS, NIFRS and the PSNI.On arrival a person was observed being secured by a paramedic who had entered the water and by a life buoy. A member of the NIFRS Swiftwater Team also entered the water securing the person.Foyle Search and Rescue on scene rescued the person to the boat with the Paramedic and SW Fireman exiting safely to land by ladder.On arrival at our base in Prehen the person was assessed by our EFRs and EMT prior to a handover to NIAS Paramedics then being transferred to an awaiting ambulance and to hospital." If you need support and help please don't do it alone. Reach out:Lifeline 08088088000Samaritans 116123CCIS 02871262300
