A wedding reception in the Waterfoot Hotel is proceeding as normal today despite 40 guests being evacuated yesterday due to a hoax bomb.
Groom Donal Doherty, who is getting married today to Margaret Johnston, was checking in when he was told he and his 40 guests would have to leave.
They and staff were evacuated across the Foyle bridge to Da Vinci's Hotel, part of the Garvan O'Doherty Group that owns the Waterfoot.
The hoax bomb is believed to have targeted the venue as it had booked a PSNI recruitment event which was due to take place next Saturday. The event had been moved back in order not to clash with the wedding, as a dissident protest was expected.
